Q: How can I participate in the trainings offered by the College?

A: Interested individuals should apply through their respective agencies and follow the applicable required national process. Participating States nominate candidates for attendance at selected College offerings. Applications of individuals not supported by their respective agencies and the Delegation to the OSCE will not be considered.

 

Q: Who can participate in the BMSC offerings?

A: Mid to Senior Level Officers of Border, Customs, Immigration, Police, Drug Control, Phyto-sanitary, and Trade/Transport Services and Agencies from 57 OSCE participating States and 11 Partners for Co-operation can participate in the educational programmes of the College.

 

Q: What are the criteria for the selection of participants?

A: Criteria for participant vary, pay attention to the information indicated in the upcoming courses description, as it is different for each course or seminar. Some offerings are specific to agency, or to gender, or to nation. Registrations received from anyone not meeting the criteria will not be processed. 

 

Q: Are there limitations for the number of participants? 

A: Due to space limitations, the College registers eligible participants on a first come, first served basis. Countries are asked to nominate no more than two participants for each course.

 

Q: What happens if the class to which I applied is full?

A: If the class is full, the candidates are added to the waiting list for the next similar training programme.  

 

Q: Can I participate in a number of events?

A: Participant can not attend the same training programme twice. However, the Staff Course graduates are welcome to attend short-term thematic seminars and other outreach activities. 

 

Q: Who covers the travel and accommodation expenses?

A: The BMSC is in charge of all organizational and administrative matters for participants. All travel, accommodation and in-country associated costs are covered by the College. Detailed information on administrative issues is shared with participants upon confirmation of their nomination.

 

Q: How do I obtain a visa for Tajikistan?

A: Visas are required for all international visitors from non-CIS countries. Visas must be obtained prior to arrival in Tajikistan. If there is no Tajik Embassy or Consulate in your country, the OSCE Border Management Staff College obtains a visa support letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan. A copy of the letter should be presented by the visitor upon arrival and a visa will be issued at the consular section of the Dushanbe International Airport. Visas issued abroad or at the airport are usually of 30 day duration.

Q: If health problems occur, does the College cover relevant expenses?

A: All participants before travelling to Tajikistan are asked to obtain their own medical insurance that covers all health-related issues that might occur during their travel and stay in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
